Bowling Night Out 9/04/10
The inaugural Porty Social Committee event was Tenpin Bowling at Fountain Park on Friday 9th April. Sixteen Porties came along to enjoy a chance to socialise away from the running club and of course compete in the bowling (especially Bert). There were three teams; one team was myself, Sally, Bert, Willie and Graham; the second team was Steven, Scott, Angus, Lynn and Karen; with Ricky, Shery, Derek, Jacqui, Mel and Gareth making up the third team. With a prize for the highest score of the two games up for grabs, it didn’t take long for the competitive streak (that only comes naturally to us runners) to appear!!
Of course we were shown how it was done by the Bert “the Bowler” Logan, who had a unique technique of his own. Sally did well with 3 strikes in a row, but it was Steven who bagged the top prize with 256 points. Not forgetting Lynn who did very well to bag the wooden spoon prize.
Well done to all who participated. A thoroughly enjoyable evening was finished off with a few beverages at Cargo. Hopefully this will be the first of many social activities that Sally, Shery and myself will organise throughout the year.
