Corstorphine 5 Mile Race 5/6/06
I was sitting in my garden enjoying the sun contemplating on whether
I should run in the Silverknowes 5k or the much hillier Corstorphine
5 mile when I eventually decided at 6.40pm to get my kit and head over
to Turnhouse Road for the 5 miler. After registering I met John Pickard
and both he and I went for a relaxed warm up run. At the starting line
I came upon John trying to tell Zac the layout of the course and he
asked me if I could help. I duly told Zac to follow me and I would get
him round in a good time (only kidding, I actually told him to follow
the lead car). The race duly started and the field quickly spread out
and I seemed to have got into a group of similar aged and paced runners
as we raced round what was a hilly course to say the least. We all equipped
ourselves well with Zac winning in 25.17 and John Pickard finishing
15th in 31.00 and myself in 19th position with a time of 32.35 and picking
up 1st male over 50,closely followed by the next three runners who were
all in my age group. Another successful outing was had by Portobello
Running Club.
