Dechmont Law 10k 10/6/07

Leo and I were the sole Porty representatives at this
year's Dechmont Law 10K.
We both warmed up by doing the 2.5K with our daughters. My two managed
the usual sprint finish to coast ahead of their dad on the home straight
(see nail biting sibling rivalry photo finish). Loads of kids and families
took part in the Fun Run which was great. Having stayed behind Leo the
whole way through the Fun Run I thought I might have him somewhere in
my sights for the 10K (fat chance).

We shook hands at the start and that was
the last I was to see of the flying Dutchman before the end. Leo reckons
he did alright and felt a bit quicker than last year but didn't check
the time on his watch (estimate 38 minutes?). The course was great with
lots of variety and lots of short hills. I was delighted to take more
than a minute and a half off my PB and finish in 42:15.
I think Lothian Running Club are trying to get the race onto our club
championship as Leo and I both came away with spot prizes much to our
delight.
