Portobello Fun Run 14/06/07
The response was fantastic. There was a huge turn out
for the Fun Run with all ages well represented. Unfortunately the weather
was a bit grim for the middle of June and although there were blue patches
in the sky now and then, it was mostly cold, grey, blowy and with light
showers of rain.
I think Jim H hadn't quite finished his speech when
the air horn sounded and the runners, grouped by age, set off along
the out and back course. It was a stampede! Then just under
six minutes later the leaders appeared back again. Michael Cameron was
first boy home, following in his brother's footsteps from previous years.
Leading the girls to the finish line was Shannon Lyons, all the more
impressive for being just 8 years old.
Very well done to all for braving the weather. We have
tried to photograph as many runners as we could - really sorry that
we didn't get everyone. Thanks to all who made this year such a great
event and see you next year.
