Portobello Fun Run 18/06/09

Sandy's daughter Zoe enjoyed the race - no guesses as
to her favourite colour.
Although the photos look bright it wasn't the warmest
of evenings mainly due to a brisk wind. However there was a good turn
out and some different faces at the front of the race. The new course
using the straighter, wider part of the Prom between King's Road and
the Dog and Cat Home seemed to be a success.

The leaders

Thanks to Tim Warren for these 2 photos
of the winning and second placed girls Cait Warren and Grace Gally.
Tim noticed the start of the fun run wasn't quite the smooth process
it is when Jim Heneghan is at the helm, and while we were grateful for
Bert stepping up to the mark, hopefully Jim's absence this year was
a temporary situation.
As fashions ebb and flow it can become
tricky to discern, in the heat of the moment, just who is in line for
a medal. Medals were awarded to the first 3 boys and first 3 girls,
the latter being distinguished initially by the length of their hair.
However this divination process required the Ferguson Refinement
(having nieces helps) of checking for baubles, clips or scrunchies in
said hair, as this is, so far, still the preserve of the fairer sex.

Please email and let us know
if we have spelled anyone's name incorrectly, thanks. Due to the hurried
nature of the registration there may have been boxes ticked in error
and so (particularly in regard to publishing photos of runners with
or without parental consent) we have published above a selection of
photos taken on the evening. If you wish a photo to be removed please
let me know, stating the race number if visible and a brief description
of the photo. Apologies for any mistakes made.
