Glasgow Half 2/09/07

I thought I had better send in a wee report as I forgot
my timing chip, so the result isn't on the website. I was so annoyed,
I've never been so disorganised. I blame it on the fact I was out at
a family meal the night before and didn't get home until midnight. Anyway,
I decided that there was no way I was going to win a prize so it didn't
really matter! It was great to see a few friendly Porty faces, although
I have to say I thought there would be more. I suppose everyone will
be working towards Prestonpans 'half'.

I was treating this race as a training
run for the 2 marathons I am running later this year. My aim was to
stick to 7 min miles all the way round which I almost managed to achieve.
It felt much easier than Haddington, as I didn't feel uncomfortable
at all. I think this is down to marathon training, as the distance felt
easy. I finished in 1.32.17 which is my 2nd fastest time for a half,
so I was happy with that. One thing is for sure, I won't be forgetting
my chip in New York which is only 2 months away!

Yet to hear a satisfactory explanation of those Elite Field passes "we
bought from a sports socks salesman outside the City Chambers."
As if.

The good thing about glasgow
is that you can enter right up to the day before the race, the bad thing
is you have to go and collect your number but I did not have to do that
as I got a number from a work colleague at Rhona's so if you're looking
for my name in the results, it's not there, all I will say is look for
