Glasgow Half Marathon – 03/09/06

This is unusual for me to be writing a report on a race where I’ve been quite happy with my time.

I travelled with Ricky, Shelagh and Janet & I was a bit stumped for words when Janet asked me how I was feeling as I had no excuses – I was actually feeling quite good.

It was a very wet day but it wasn’t windy or cold so the conditions were good.

My first three miles were faster than I had expected but I was feeling alright and just tried to keep it going for as long as possible. The course was a bit different from the previous year when I’d had a ‘nightmare’.

I tired a bit in the last three miles but was happy to finish with a time of 1:36:35 – this was the best I have run for 18 months so I was pretty pleased with how it had gone.

Hopefully this has been good preparation for Loch Ness Marathon and if I can get in a few more ‘Graham Henry Mystery Runs’ then I might write another report without any excuses.

There were a few other Porty runners on Sunday but I’m sorry – I’m not sure of all your names.

It was quite a happy car on the way home as Janet and Ricky were also happy with their times although Shelagh wasn’t too happy with hers.

Zak also took part in the 10k. After starting in the wrong group and spending the first couple of Ks zig-zagging through the crowds he says he feels he did about the same time as the winner, somewhere about the 32 minutes mark, but there is no sign of him in the results.

As the results fail to mention clubs I may have missed PRCers from the above list - please email any ammendments or missing names, thanks pb
