Loch Leven Half 19/05/07

I thought if I could have a good run at Loch Leven it
would give me a boost for the Marathon. I didn’t manage the time
I had hoped for but the weather was awful with the wind just as bad
as it was at Alloa.
I had my usual pre-race visit to the doctors. This time
it was my eyes that I was worried about so when the Doctor told me I
was colour blind it was a complete bolt out of the green!!
There was John Pickard, Sally and myself from Porty,
we are all doing the marathon so we were all hoping for a confidence
builder.
Ten minutes before the start and the rain was torrential
and the wind was howling. Thankfully the rain stopped just before the
start. During the race the wind was in your face and blowing across
but as usual it didn’t seem to be behind us very often.
I was quite happy that I got to 10 miles in 71 minutes.
The last 3 miles were murder into the wind and I was losing time at
every mile marker. I only managed to pass Sally because she had to stop
for a ‘Paula’ but John was well out of sight. I finished
in 1:36:53 which was much better than last year so considering the weather
I was reasonably happy. I don’t know how John got on but Sally
was just behind me and she got a prize for 2nd Lady Vet but would have
been first if she hadn’t had to stop.
I think considering the weather it had been quite successful,
I just hope the weather is better this weekend.
