Lochaber Once More 18/04/10

Tortoise and Hare*
Fort William was bathed in April sunshine for the Lochaber
Marathon, in fact it was pretty much the same weather that I ran in
Lochaber 2009, for my first marathon. Peter told me that it rained in
Fort William when he ran it - I don't believe him. (Ahem
check out photos here then Jamie!)

Unfortunately the end result was pretty much the same,
as a lack of training meant a tortuous last six miles.
I turned at half way in 1hr 34min on track for my 3hr
16min target. At mile 21 I started to run though porridge, which only
got thicker with each mile. The clock showed 3hr 22min as I trundled
across the line.

Great Time!

Feel the Pain

Finished
I am just pleased that I kept on going to the bitter
end without stopping.
At the start I met up with Gareth who runs under Teviotdale - he managed
a cracking 2hr 48min - and he still ran the first mile with me!
Respect the distance.
Report and photos Jamie Marwick (*captions
Jamie's also - technically I think between the Tortoise and Hare the
former wins according to mythology, however in this case I think Jamie
is referring to Gareth as the Hare.)
Gareth appears to have run in Mizuno Wave Harrier
2s (a cross country shoe!) unless I'm mistaken.
