Conditions ideal except for a strong west wind ( a real sod from 9.5 to finish!!! )
I think many of us must have got caught up in delays at bridge which resulted in some serious rushing about and resulted in many runners not making registration in time. No time for fancy warm ups and stretching, so more or less straight into race. I was reminded that the last 5k is the easy bit, so kept steady at aprox 6mins 40secs until final climb past Scotlandwell, thinking the hard work was done, looking for 1.28 finish time, so now for some speed; wrong!!! Hit the wind head on, got to 10miles in 68 mins, and from then on struggled to keep just over 7 mins pace til finish. Willie and Janet tried to gee me up at the 13 mile marker, but this old body of mine was truly done in. Felt all of my 52 years as I wobbled over the finish line. Consolation; was the fastest half for me in over 5 years.
Congrats to Janet for finishing 2nd lady in open race, and great to see so many Porty runners there.
My apologies to anyone who I missed out, or failed to mention either a pb for anyone of first run for club.
