Self Transcendence 1 Mile race

In an effort to keep up with Graham and
his 3 races in 4 days I thought I would go to club via the meadows and
do the Sri Chinmoy 1 miler. I have never timed myself over a one mile
only course and thought well it can't be that bad if it only goes on
for 5 and a half minutes. (Questionable)
I hoped the stiffness and heavy legs would
ease off on the run there. Not really and I started the mile feeling
tired. Scott H started well and it took till about half way round before
I managed to catch him, and then it was probably only his lunchtime
(accidental) speed session with some colleagues that saved my bacon.
None of the three of us had done the mile
before so pbs all round. Richard was pleased to go under his target
of 6 minutes (5.48), I considered my 5.20 as the starting point from
which to improve. Scott was 3 secs behind me. Richard and I went off
to join Gordon's group where I lasted for only 2/3rds of the session
before retreat. There's only so many hard sessions you can do in a row
to the point where you're not doing any good. I was relieved to hear
Lucy was also feeling last night's race in her legs. No racing this
weekend.
