Portobello 4 mile road race

Matt Bell

The weather was glorious for the annual 4 Mile Road Race held along the prom at Porty. Well for the spectators that is - perhaps a little warm for the runners but a lack of the usual shoreline breeze made for near record times and a very pleasant evening for those of us not running.

results here
(these are rather hastily thrown together at a late hour so do let us know the proper way to spell your name and any other similar corrections)

In the mens race Matt Bell kept it very close to 5 minute miling dropping last year's winner Andrew Crichton in the second half to win by 5 seconds. David Blackie was first vet. In the women's race Porty's Jill Morrow kept Janet Dunbar in sight but Janet proved stronger over the four miles taking first.

Janet - planning to return to PRC training nights.

A crew came over from Holland to run here and also the 7 Hills on Sunday. I hope you can forgive any mis-spelt names in the results.

It was warm but was it really THAT warm?

More photos from the 4 miler and also the Fun Run next week. If someone could let me know the results of the Fun Run (first 3 in either category) I will post them with some photos early next week. Apologies for the delay.
