Portobello 1 mile Fun Run 22/6/06
Jim Heneghan lays down the lawThe youngsters turned out in greater numbers than the adults for the annual race on thursday evening. Dark clouds gathered and there was a breeze but this didn't deter a large number of local kids who showed determination in completing the mile long 'out and back' course on the prom. First home again was Peter Cameron; just a couple of seconds ahead of Laura Robertson. Both 12 year olds did under 6 minutes for the mile - a great achievement. In third place Ruaridh Miller just managed to keep ahead of Michael Cameron - Peter's brother. However its not just about who comes first and many of those taking part seemed to be having a great time. If anyone who took part wants to email a report in I would be delighted to put it alongside the photos. Well done to everyone who managed to come along and support the event.
